So let’s start...

The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that usually has six strings. it is typically played with both hands by strumming or plucking the strings with either a guitar pick or the finger / fingernails of one hand, while simultaneously fretting (pressing the strings against the frets) with the fingers of the other hand.

The sound of the vibrating strings is projected either acoustically, by means of the hollow chamber of the guitar (for an acoustic guitar), or through an electrical amplifier and a speaker (for an electric guitar).

There is a lot more about it but we will continue with the 2 main types on Guitar i.e. Acoustic Guitar & Electric Guitar.

Acoustic Guitar

An acoustic guitar is that projects the sounds of its vibrating strings acoustically through the air. Originally just called a guitar, the retronym 'acoustic guitar' came in use to distinguish it from an electric guitar, that relies on an electronic amplification system. The sound waves from the strings of an acoustic guitar resonate through the instrument's body, amplifying the sound. Typically, a guitar's body is a sound box, of which the top side serves as a sound board that enhances the vibration sounds of the strings.

To Play Acoustic Guitar required only pick.

Electric Guitar

An electric guitar is a guitar that uses one or more pickups to convert the vibration of its strings into electrical signals. The vibration occurs when a guitar player strums, plucks, fingerpicks, slaps or taps the strings. The pickup generally uses electromagnetic induction to create this signal, which being relatively weak is fed into a guitar amplifier before being sent to the speaker, which converts it into audible sound.

The electric signal can be electronically altered to change the timbre of the sound. Often, the signal is modified using effects such as reverb, distortion and "overdrive" the latter is considered to be a key element of electric blues guitar music and rock guitar playing.
